FaegreBD Consulting has served higher education federal affairs needs since 1986. Our professionals work across multiple agencies and programs to secure research funding, develop program coalitions, and pursue policy objectives. A representative sample of FaegreBD Consulting's higher education research work is summarized briefly below.   

• Regulatory Science. FaegreBD Consulting played a crucial role in the development and advancement of several multi-institution coalitions and partnerships, including one multi-university client which, through legislation and agency relations, secured federal funding for multiple regulatory science projects. FaegreBD Consulting has advocated for growing the resources available to the FDA's Office of Pharmaceutical Science, the Critical Path Initiative and the Critical Path Public Private Partnerships, working to ensure that our client became a primary external research and education partner of the FDA.
  
• Energy. FaegreBD Consulting drafted and worked with Committee staff to secure a client-sponsored amendment focused on the development of biofuels from a specific cellulosic feedstock. Following enactment, to pre-position the university for success, FaegreBD worked with federal agency program directors to ensure that the language was incorporated into the next federal grant announcement.
  
• Life Sciences. FaegreBD Consulting provided consulting services to two research universities to inform the design of the institutions' proposal for an NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), which received peer review scores of high national distinction and were approved for funding. Our firm worked with the universities' leadership, adding to their experience with our insight on NIH and its Center for Research Resources. FaegreBD Consulting professionals have provided specific input on emerging NIH emphases such as community engagement, health disparities, data sharing and the need for cross-campus collaboration to accelerate research translation.
  
• Agriculture. During the 2008 reauthorization of the Farm Bill, FaegreBD Consulting worked alongside client leadership to design amendments to strengthen the reauthorization of the Farm Bill, steering congressional – and subsequent federal agency – action toward university research priorities.
  
• Defense. FaegreBD Consulting advised an integrated multi-institution research collaboration focused on neurotrauma research and prevention, specifically on combat-related traumatic brain injuries. Our professionals provided guidance on increasing the competitiveness of the institution's emerging capabilities, working both with Congress to advance the entity's research objectives, and pre-positioning the collaboration with the U.S. Army's Medical Research and Materiel Command at Fort Detrick.
  
• International Affairs. For a higher education institution, FaegreBD Consulting advanced a federal agency and non-governmental organization outreach strategy – along with the Council of Higher Education Accreditation and the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation – to help transform educational quality in Morocco through partnering with the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Higher Education, Training and Scientific Research, the presidents of all Moroccan universities, and the private sector to establish a successful national education accreditation system. 
  
• Business Acceleration. Based on our guidance, a FaegreBD Consulting client formed a strategic partnership to help create and grow local businesses while enhancing economic development opportunities throughout the region. With federal funding, the business incubator and accelerator program has catalyzed the development of innovation-based jobs while also adding to the economic and intellectual diversity of the region.
